PAWS FAQ

What do I need to gain access to PAWS?
A wireless device that supports the 802.11b or 802.11g protocols, a browser that supports SSL and can display images installed on your wireless device which allows you to see the PAWS login screen, and a UGA MyID login name and password.

Where on campus can I access the wireless network?
See the LOCATIONS page for a complete list and map of all of the current and near future wireless access locations.

I have a UGA MyID, but I don't know how to configure my networking protocols.
You must first have a wireless card installed and setup, then you must have your TCP/IP setup set to use your wireless card and to do DHCP and nothing else.

I have a PDA with a wireless card. Shouldn't I be able to access PAWS too?
You might be able to gain access to PAWS with your PDA, but at present we are unable to provide user assistance for configuration or troubleshooting.

Can I use AIM or Yahoo Messaging Clients on PAWS?
Although many applications will not work because some ports are limited on PAWS, some applications can be reconfigured to use the port for the web (tcp port 80) Both AIM and Yahoo messaging clients can be configured to work on lower ports (select port 80 for AIM, 'firewall, no proxies' for Yahoo).

Whom do I contact if I have problems?
Contact the EITS Helpdesk.
